Sparton Electronics celebrates the opening of Albuquerque's newest and largest electronics contract manufacturing facility in 2004

November 22, 2004--Global Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) provider, Sparton Electronics (NYSE:SPA) along with invited guests and its employee/associates celebrated the opening of the newest and largest EMS operation in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2004.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially start the surface mount technology (SMT) production line and provide a tour of the remodeled building, formerly a control products facility owned by Honeywell. The 110,000 square foot facility now becomes the new center of operations for Sparton Electronics in the southwestern United States with a possible reach to the west coast.

"This new manufacturing facility will provide economic benefits to Sparton Electronics, our employee/associates and to the local community," David W. Hockenbrocht, CEO and President of Sparton Corporation told the attendees. "Everyone at Sparton wishes to express our gratitude for the assistance we have received from the community throughout the entire process leading up to today."

Local civic leaders from both Albuquerque and Rio Rancho attended the grand opening celebration. Mr. Hockenbrocht noted that the strong support from the surrounding communities helped ease the transition from moving out of one facility in Rio Rancho and into another in the City of Albuquerque.

Sparton's market driven and technological focus was the catalyst to the decision to remain in New Mexico and to acquire a more modern facility in the State. The remodeled facility will accommodate customer products with higher technical requirements, as well as provide additional and much more efficient manufacturing space.

Sparton Electronics closed and sold its facility located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and moved all operations to the newly remodeled facility located at 8500 Bluewater Road.
