Streamload awarded Innovator in Telecommunications in Internet Technologies for 2004 by the San Diego Telecom Council

September 24, 2004--Streamload, the leading Internet service for transfer and storage of personal digital entertainment, has been chosen as the Innovator in Telecommunications in Internet Technologies award winner for 2004 on behalf of the San Diego Telecom Council (SDTC).

Streamload was recognized during the Innovator in Telecommunications awards banquet on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The Innovators in Telecommunications Awards is SDTC's inaugural competition recognizing individuals and teams from San Diego companies that are making significant technology contributions to telecommunications. They honor engineers, entrepreneurs and creative geniuses who are the promise of our industry in the years to come.

Steve Iverson, founder and CEO, and Michael Balloni, vice president of engineering for Streamload, were recognized for their contributions to innovation in San Diego. The exponential growth of digital applications and file sizes requires new types of access to and storage of memory-intensive data. Many of the traditional methods of storage and file transfer are not ideal for a consumer market. Streamload saw the need for a better solution and pioneered a new method for centrally storing and managing data specifically for the needs of consumers to securely store any size media and digital files, with the ability to easily send, receive, access and stream them from any location.

Streamload is unique since it is the only Internet service that offers its customers free, virtually unlimited storage and multi-gigabyte file-size limits. This is due to its proprietary technology which can handle billions of files at 1/20 the cost of traditional storage systems. Streamload currently manages more than 300 terabytes of customer data and is adding more than a terabyte of unique data every other day.

"We're excited to receive validation from our industry peers that our technology is cutting edge and leading in the transfer and storage capacity space," said Steve Iverson. "Streamload's service is revolutionizing consumers' power to harness the mobility of the Internet and ability to share inventions, creativity and special moments across the globe."

Streamload is the ideal complementary service for owners of DVRs, digital camcorders, MP3 players, digital cameras and other digital devices. Its technology enables users to transfer and stockpile thousands of Megafiles into their account, send and receive all of their files from anywhere quickly and easily, and move video and music to any device.

Users also can send large file attachments, up to 2 GB of data per file and up to 20,000 files per email. That's a theoretical file size limitation of 40 terabytes of file attachments per email sent, or nearly 4 million times the limits of a standard Yahoo! Mail email.

While most of its competitors charge for storage, Streamload does not charge for storage, but rather has only nominal charges for access to the users' digital collection once they exceed their free account allowance of 100 MB of downloads per month.
