Billion to be Invested in Mexico in Eolic Energy Plants
Thirteen
energy companies will invest in Mexico around US$3 billion within the next
three years in eolic energy projects to generate almost 2,000 megawatts, the
Ministry of Energy informed today.
The
Minister said in a press release that agreements were signed today with four
Mexican companies for projects to generate 163 megawatts in Istmo de Tehuantepec
and deliver electricity to the state-owned power generating company Comisión
Federal de
Electricidad
(CFE).
The
companies that entered the agreements are Electricidad del Valle de México,
Eoliatec del Istmo, Bii Nee Stipa Energía Eólica and Fuerza Eólica del Istmo.
Georgina
Kessel, Minister of Energy, Eugenio Laris, CFE Financed Investment Projects
Director and Francisco Javier Salazar, Chairman of the Energy Regulating Commission
were all present in the event, where Ms. Kessel pointed-out that one of the
Government’s strategies included in the National Development Plan is promoting
efficiency and clean technologies to generate electric energy, among them
eolic.
The
Ministry of Energy reminded that recently seven companies more entered agreements
with CFE to generate 1,492 megawatts that will be in operation in the first
half of 2010.
